Vinted Members Share Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
